January 2026 Writing Update

New year, same overestimating self! So, have made really nice progress on the revisions and edits of the novel draft, but still not close to done. We’ve got about a third of the chapters remaining, which translates to about 40% of the page count. Apparently I lose brevity the longer the narrative goes on. I wonder if there is any deeper and larger-scale meaning to that sort of thing in my own life…

Anyway, if I keep on track of editing roughly one chapter per day, I can be done by mid-month! That would be ideal. Then, beta readers time!

Conversely, lot of good stuff in film and television coming out right now. So that means I want to spend more and more time working on potential reviews for those. And with only so many hours in a day to dedicate to this sort of stuff it will definitely be a balance. But, I am sure it is a balance I will figure out at least to some sub-optimal degree.

Other goals for this year include putting some legwork into this novel when it’s in a good spot, and being serious about a screenplay that I write and polishing it enough so that I can proudly submit it to the Blacklist. Professionally, I am also looking to seek out some certifications so that I am slightly more employable. Anyway, enough of the writing here, more of the writing in the 300 page document. Until February!
