June 2025 Review
Another month with two reviews! For two movies I actually enjoyed seeing, no less! But, the featured one this go-around is the final Mission: Impossible film. I love this franchise and wanted to give its final entry some love. You should too! And then you should watch this review!
June 2025 Writing Update
So, the whodunit is getting redone-it. And that’s a rewarding sort of challenge when approached appropriately. But, it’s still mentally taxing. So, I’ve been “rewarding” myself with time away from the planning stage of that rewrite with the horror writing.

May 2025 Review
So, busy month, short update, shorter description. I saw Sinners, it rocked (as you may have heard elsewhere) and in my review I talk about what specifically allows it to rock so hard. You should watch it!
May 2025 Writing Update
In this somewhat terse update, I provide brief statuses on both my revisions due to beta reader commentary, as well as the less-strenuous-more-fun activity of writing a horror story and all the setup that’s happening in those early chapters.

April 2025 Review
While my job continues to subject me with the burden of increased responsibility and expectation, I turn my creative focus to the prestige streaming series Severance, which acts as a critique of the modern working world, among the many other things it is exceptional at.
April 2025 Writing Update
In this update, I vindicate myself by agreeing with my post from thirty days ago theorizing about how it might be difficult to implement beta reader feedback. Lots of conflicting opinions, but what’s important is trying to figure out where their experience went astray from what you had intended and understanding what can be modified to realign your intention with their experience.

March 2025 Review
A review of a giant blockbuster with a shirtless, bright-red Harrison Ford! Also, a review of a mid-budget movie with a sentient robot designed for pleasure. A real variety this month. Pick your poison!
MARCH 2025 Writing Update
In this update, I discuss the process of listening to feedback I’ve recently received from beta readers. I also mention some details on my new project, an Appalachian mystery, that I am planning out to engage with the more “fun” part of writing.

February 2025 Review
Woah! Read in shock and amazement as I not only provide you with one, but TWO, reviews to watch and hopefully enjoy. One a mystery with lots drama (Conclave) and the other a horror with lots of tragedy (Wolf Man). The tragedy in the second, of course, being my viewing experience, sadly.
February 2025 Writing Update
In this update, I talk about finishing the second draft of my mystery novel, how I should keep the momentum going off of that, and what I should do to keep my creative muscles working, but not give them too much fatigue from even more time with the same exact story.

January 2025 Review
The 2024 tier list is here! Bask in all its glory, as well as the entries on it that maybe aren’t so glorious…
January 2025 Writing Update
In the first update of 2025, I talk more about what I’m hoping to accomplish this year rather than what I got done in the most recent stretch of time. A good change of pace.
December 2024 Review
Yes, the movie event of the Christmas season is here! (At least until Nosferatu comes out, that is.) Listen to my review of Wicked, where I discuss how the film adaptation adds elements that simply are incapable of existing in the stage play medium, as well as how the film handles the core story and music of the Broadway titan.
December 2024 Writing Update
In this update, I talk about what is likely my final writing endeavor I’ll be able to finish this year, a horror short story that I’m hoping to have finished within the next few days. I feel it has a real chance to achieve one of the loftier New Year’s Resolutions I’ve set for myself this year…make something which I genuinely believe to be scary. In the medium of novels, this is a somewhat high bar for me to clear, so I’m cautiously optimistic.

November 2024 Review
My pain is your pleasure! Watch as I endure Rebel Moon, a nearly-three-hour marathon of struggle. As the film goes, its cliches cause me to become increasingly inebriated, all in the service of your entertainment. Yay for 500 subscribers?
November 2024 Writing Update
In this update, I review what went right (write?) in National Novel Writing Month, comparing some struggles of draft one with their lessons learned and implemented in draft two. Also, I definitely didn’t post this late, you’re crazy.
October 2024 Writing Update
In this update, I lament my fortuitous timing for National Novel Writing Month and go through a crisis of decision. To begin anew like I promised I would (and likely should)? Or to close out my spur-of-the-moment Halloween short story and then dive back into the novel’s second draft?

October 2024 Review
October? Halloween? Oh, looks like I forgot to review a scary movie this year. Instead, I had a scary experience watching a movie. Not because it was scary. It was actually just really bad.
September 2024 Writing Update
Hey! Now, look at this! I finally finished the edit! A self-congratulating blog update where I talk about the side project I'm using to keep my writing brain engaged in the downtime, and my hopes for the second draft of the novel now that it's finished.

September 2024 Review
September? That's basically October, which is basically Halloween. Time to review something in that aesthetic, such as the new Beetlejuice.
