July 2026 Writing Update

Finished the screenplay redraft! 8 pages shorter, too! I think that’s pretty solid, especially considering the amount of scenes I added into the script as completely new pieces and how much I revised rather than removed outright. I still think there might be a world where I squeeze this in closer to 100 pages than 114, but I’d like to get some fresh eyes on this draft before I pursue that too aggressively. Some of my proudest additions are personality flavoring to some side characters, a lot of flavor and lore to the underlying horror of it all, and hopefully a more logical narrative progression for the reader to follow along with.

Next steps? Hmm, good question. Get some script readers, maybe? I want to explore some vignette-type stories around this premise as well. Maybe some short stories that I put here or on SubStack. I think they’d be good litmus tests into seeing how well the core concepts and characters might resonate with any potential audience. That, and a Blcklst submission if I like my redraft upon reading it after the holiday weekend.
