May 2026 Writing Update

Man this whole beta reading a full novel thing is hard. What idiot came up with this idea anyway? Me, I guess.

But I finished the screenplay and got what I thought was pretty actionable feedback on that. Thanks Blcklst! So, I suppose I’ll put my mind toward addressing those items. They’re perfectly reasonable, especially considering I might’ve cut down a little too much on the explanatory plot elements to hit my page count. But I can absolutely restructure things and come back to certain scenes to maybe make the narrative more clear and explicit. A lot was lost going from 140K words to less than 125 pages, but I’ll figure out how to maximize that which remains.

As for the novel, maybe I should look at cutting that down to size, too. Perhaps repassing the screenplay version will give me some ideas. Otherwise, an old idea has been nagging at me as of late, so maybe I can give that some attention if I’m not quite feeling in my editor mindset.
