March 2026 Writing Update
Alright, so, the hunt for a beta reader continues. I imagine the word count isn’t doing me any favors, as expected. However, in my hunt for beta readers I’ve had a couple of opportunities to preview some other works in the event an exchange might be possible. Suffice to say these have made me feel better about my own progress as a writer, at least in terms of technical items. Prose and general flow I think have gotten a lot better for me than my first crack with the whodunit novel last year. As for how the overall story of the thing ends up...that remains to be seen.
In the realm of screenplays, I’ve gotten into the 90s in terms of page count. That means I should really start wrapping things up soon. But, well, I’m not even at the climax yet. Oops. Guess I’ll just be praying that I manage to find a way to keep this thing under 120 pages. Any more than that and I’ll need to seriously lean things out. Which is a bit shocking considering how much I’ve combined, condensed, or cut already. If nothing else, this just makes me feel a little better about there being enough “plot” for a novel in the first place.
So I guess there’s that. Oh well, off to find some beta readers. I pray. I hope. If I’m lucky. See ya next month.
