November 2025 Review

On time? Again? Who is this guy? Anyway, this review is a much stranger one. It’s a bit esoteric with it, as the kids are saying. In this review, I talk about horror in the broad sense. Less so individual films and more the medium which so commonly features mediums. And I use some sports analogies to discuss my thoughts on jump-scares as well as the articles you always see about certain films raising heart rates to record highs.

In short, I draw comparisons from these sorts of tendencies in horror to stat-padding in sports like basketball and football. Impressive on paper or in the moment but lacking real substance. And, without substance, a given athlete or team or film will lack staying power in our zeitgeist. It will not be seriously considered or reflected on if it has nothing deeper or more complex to offer. So, watch that on my YouTube channel here if it sounds at all interesting to you.
