October 2025 Writing Update
Welp, didn’t finish the novel. WOMP WOMP!
About 80% of the way through though, which is a very solid chunk further than I was exactly one month ago. So, there’s that! I am absolutely POSITIVE though that I can finish the first draft this month, ideally even before the halfway point.
Rereading the entire first draft though? In the same month? Before National Novel Writing Month? Much more of a tall order. Oops. New plan is uhhh…hmm…what exactly is the new plan?
Not so sure I have one at this point in time. I think I should take at least a brief break from the world of the horror novel as soon as I finish and not jump immediately into editing. Maybe a week or two. I suppose during that time I could either pull a rush-job on a short screenplay to clear the mind. Or I could just focus on a seasonal, spooky short story. Both seem fun to me. Maybe I’ll flip a coin when the time comes.
But, beyond that interstitial period, I am more clear on what lies ahead. Edit that first draft. Reread it in all the painstaking lack-of-glory that such a process entails. Make the proper edits. Clean things up.
But, you know, gotta finish writing the first draft first, right? And that certainly isn’t happening if I keep blabbering on in this blog update. Ta-ta for now.
